Quick Reference & User Guide
The Smart Crate stores your objects and lets you quickly rez individual items, multiple items, or everything at once. Just touch the crate to get started.
GETTING STARTED
Touch the Smart Crate to open the menu. The menu shows the number of rezzable objects currently inside, along with your current Rez Distance and Object Spacing settings.
The object count updates automatically when items are added or removed.
REZZING ITEMS
CHOOSE ITEM
Select Choose Item to browse the objects stored inside the crate. Up to 8 items are shown per page. Use << Items and Items >> to move between pages, then select the numbered button for the item you want.
REZ 2 / REZ 4 / REZ 8 / REZ 16
Quickly rez the selected number of objects at once.
REZ ALL
Rez every available object stored inside the Smart Crate.
ADDING OBJECTS
To add items to your Smart Crate, simply place the objects you want to rez into the crate's inventory.
The Smart Crate automatically detects inventory changes and updates its object count.
TIP: Use clear, recognizable names for your objects so they're easy to find when using Choose Item.
OWNER SETTINGS
The Settings menu is available to the Smart Crate owner and includes:
ADMINS — Control who else can operate the Smart Crate.
FLOATING TEXT — Customize or hide the text displayed above the crate.
REZ DISTANCE — Control how far in front of the crate objects appear.
SPACING — Control the distance between objects when rezzing multiple items.
RESET DEFAULTS — Restore the default configurable settings.
ADMIN ACCESS
The owner can give trusted residents permission to use the Smart Crate without giving them access to Owner Settings.
ADD AN ADMIN
Nearby
Scans for residents within approximately 96 meters. Select the resident you want to add.
Enter UUID
Manually enter an avatar UUID when adding someone who isn't nearby.
MANAGE ADMINS
View Admins — Displays your current admin list.
Remove Admin — Removes an individual admin.
Clear Admins — Removes all admins.
IMPORTANT: Admins can use the Smart Crate's rezzing functions, but only the owner can access Settings.
REZ DISTANCE
Settings → Rez Distance
Controls how far in front of the Smart Crate objects will appear.
Range: 0.5–20 meters
Default: 0.5 meters
Increase the distance if objects are appearing too close to the crate. Decrease it if you want them closer.
OBJECT SPACING
Settings → Spacing
Controls the amount of space between objects when multiple items are rezzed.
Range: 0.25–10 meters
Default: 0.5 meters
Use smaller spacing for compact displays or larger spacing for bigger objects.
FLOATING TEXT
The Smart Crate can display its name, current object count, and a Touch for menu prompt above the crate.
CHANGE NAME
Settings → Floating Text → Change Name
Enter your store name, product name, or any other identifier you'd like displayed.
Maximum: 50 characters
CHANGE COLOR
Settings → Floating Text → Text Color
Available colors:
White • Red • Green • Blue • Yellow • Orange • Purple • Pink • Cyan • Black
TURN TEXT ON/OFF
Settings → Floating Text → Text On/Off
Toggle the floating text display without affecting the Smart Crate's other functions.
RESET DEFAULTS
Settings → Reset Defaults
Restores the default:
Rez Distance
Object Spacing
Floating Text Name
Floating Text Color
Floating Text Visibility
Your Admin list is not affected.
WHO CAN USE THE SMART CRATE?
OWNER
Full access to rezzing, Settings, and Admin management.
ADMIN
Can operate the Smart Crate and rez items, but cannot access Owner Settings.
OTHER RESIDENTS
Cannot operate the Smart Crate unless they have been added as an Admin.
QUICK REFERENCE
Touch Crate → Open the menu
Choose Item → Rez a specific object
Rez 2 / 4 / 8 / 16 → Rez multiple objects
Rez All → Rez everything
Settings → Admins → Manage users
Settings → Floating Text → Customize display
