Frequently Asked Questions
-
I specialize in small-scale custom mesh and hard-surface assets for Second Life shops, creators, and businesses.
My primary focus includes:
Store fixtures
Vendors and product displays
Shelving and display units
Auction tables
Tip jars and donation boxes
Signage and mesh logos
Small furniture pieces
Tanks and habitats
Branded business objects
Simple scripted objects
I may also consider other small-scale projects on a case-by-case basis.
-
Custom projects start at L$5,000.
Most projects fall between L$10,000 and L$50,000, depending on the complexity, level of detail, materials, scripting, number of pieces, and intended use.
Every project is individually quoted before work begins.
The starting price is intended for relatively small, straightforward assets. More detailed or involved projects may cost more, and projects outside the scope of my services may be declined.
Once I review your project, I can give you a better idea of the expected timeframe.
Please keep in mind that project timelines can also be affected by revisions, changes to the original design, and how quickly I receive feedback or approvals.
-
No.
My custom mesh service is specifically focused on smaller assets that help Second Life shops and businesses look polished and professional.
I am not currently accepting:
Houses or residential buildings
Large architectural projects
Complete store builds
Large environments or landscapes
Multi-building projects
Large furniture collections
Extensive product collections
Large-scale environment design
If your project requires a large amount of architectural or environmental modeling, this service probably isn't the right fit.
-
The more information you can provide, the more accurately I can estimate your project.
When submitting your request, please include as much of the following as possible:
A description of what you'd like created
Reference or inspiration images
Approximate dimensions
Desired colors and materials
Your store branding, logos, or other assets
How the object will be used
Any required functionality
Land Impact requirements, if applicable
Examples of existing items you'd like the design to complement
Whether you intend to sell or redistribute the finished asset
You don't need to know exactly how the object should be modeled. A sketch, reference images, or a clear description of what you're looking for is enough to get started.
-
Your project will be delivered with the permissions agreed upon in your project quote.
Standard project pricing covers the creation of the custom asset for your agreed-upon use.
You may use the finished asset within Second Life for your own business, store, displays, or other approved purposes.
Commercial resale and redistribution are not automatically included.
If you intend to:
Sell the finished mesh
Include it in a product you sell
Distribute copies to customers
Use it as a commercial product
Resell the mesh as a standalone asset
you must disclose this when submitting your request.
Commercial licensing and redistribution rights are quoted separately based on the intended use.
-
Possibly, depending on the project.
If you're commissioning an asset that will become part of a product you sell, please disclose that when submitting your request.
Commercial resale, redistribution, and licensing are not included in standard project pricing and may require an additional fee.
This allows me to properly price projects based on how the finished asset will generate value for your business.
-
Yes.
Projects include up to two reasonable rounds of revisions as part of the standard project scope.
Revisions are intended to refine the approved design, such as:
Shape
Colors
Materials
Details
Branding
Placement
A revision does not mean completely redesigning the project.
Major changes to the original concept, additional features, or additional pieces requested after work has begun may require an additional fee. Significant additional work will always be discussed with you before proceeding.
-
Yes, I can include simple Second Life functionality as part of a custom project.
Examples may include:
Simple touch interactions
Basic menus
Simple vendor functionality
Basic interactive components
Other small-scale object interactions
Scripting requirements are evaluated as part of your project quote.
More complex systems, HUDs, extensive automation, or large interactive systems may require additional development time or may fall outside the scope of this service.
-
Yes, as long as it is small in scope and fits within the type of work I offer.
My specialty is small hard-surface assets for Second Life businesses, but I'm happy to consider other small custom projects when my schedule and capabilities allow.
Large architectural, environmental, or multi-asset projects are outside the current scope of this service.
If you're unsure whether your idea is a good fit, you're welcome to submit a request and I'll let you know.
-
Project timelines vary depending on the complexity of the asset and my current schedule.
A simple sign or small business object may take considerably less time than a detailed fixture or multi-piece display.
Once I review your request, I'll provide an estimated timeframe along with your project quote.
Timelines can also be affected by revisions, changes to the original concept, and how quickly feedback or approvals are provided.
-
No.
You don't need a finished blueprint or technical specifications.
Reference images, sketches, existing branding, examples of similar products, or even a simple description of what you're envisioning can be enough to get started.
However, the more clearly you can communicate the intended result, the more accurately I can estimate the project.
-
Yes.
Once your project has been reviewed and accepted, a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your project and begin work.
The deposit is applied toward your final project balance.
No work will begin until the deposit has been received.
-
Your original quote is based on the scope and requirements you provide when the project is accepted.
If you decide to substantially change the design, add additional pieces, add new functionality, or change the intended use after work has begun, the project may need to be re-quoted.
I'll always discuss significant changes with you before proceeding with additional work.
-
No.
Every custom request is reviewed individually based on scope, complexity, timeline, and my current availability.
Because I intentionally keep my custom projects relatively small, some requests may simply be too large or outside the type of work I'm currently accepting.
If your project isn't a good fit, I'll let you know before any payment is requested.
-
Start by filling out the Custom Mesh Request Form and providing as much information about your project as possible.
I'll review your request and, if it's a good fit, get back to you with any questions, an estimated price, and an expected timeframe.
